Articulation of Islamic values toward Sustainable of Natural Resources Management

This is a brief conclusion of my recent study in West Sumatra

Islamic values answered the global challenges of depleting natural resources. It significantly contributes to sustainability of natural resources through commitment and consistency of the values. There are five classifications of interpretation were used that are reference, respect, restraint, responsibility, and redistribution. Islamic values tied up community to one interest of goal and objective. And it articulated in many activities which show us that Islam strongly influence people behavior and perspective. The first assumption of ideology and doctrine would not match each other is failure. People should face the dilemma because of the different mainstream is not proven in community of Sungai Pisang. Contrarily, the argumentation of transcendentalism and naturalism does strengthen each other in term of sustainability of natural resources or management. Secondly, community implements Islamic values in culture practices that are claimed as part of Islam. They mix religious and cultural activities that do not divide each other such as mentioned (Laillahaillallah) no God but Allah in Tolak Bala ritual. Both of them also act as instruments that encourage sustainability of natural resources. Thirdly, It is the fact that source of life that people often interact naturally influenced their characteristics of thinking, communication, behavior, and attitude. In this research was found that Islamic values and local knowledge articulated in term of contribution to existence of sustainability of natural resources management such as moral standard. Islamic values also encourage to existence of sustainability of natural resources management such as social instrument of organization and instrument of decision making. Logic action became an option to collecting benefit from the nature but people prefer to do communal activity and contribute to community as kind of reciprocity by sharing the benefit because people could not pay back the welfare that nature provides by the power of God. The reciprocity is activity that conducts to remind themselves about their lucky but also remind them about deterministic factor of Nature that is beyond of empirical identification. They realized if they cross the Islamic borders they will get some consequences from what they did. And religion guides them to better situation and condition of future either for current or next generation.
